UK Oracle User Group Apps17’s SaaS Cloud Streams Have Something for Everyone

Debra Lilley, UKOUG Apps17 Conference Lead

As Oracle Apps professionals, it’s important for us to be able to cut through the industry and marketing hype, and help each other get the best from the technologies we use. Cloud Apps are a particularly key area that we will be diving into at Apps17: the largest independent gathering of Oracle professionals in the UK and Ireland.

Oracle’s Cloud Applications hold the promise of fast implementation and ROI, lower Capex, and simpler national/global rollouts. However, it’s essential to talk, as a community, about the realities of migrating apps to the Cloud. So, we’ve designed the cloud streams to give you an unparalleled opportunity to discover what your peers are doing with Cloud Apps, and learn about their challenges and the solutions they found.

Detail and Support for Every Stage of the Cloud Journey

Apps17 includes both speakers and delegates that have moved to the Cloud; some that have executed partial cloud migrations; and others that have been there for a while and have rich experiences to share. It means the conference is going to have something for everyone, including those who are already using Cloud Applications and want to be part of a cloud community.

Real-Life Cloud Stories

Relevant to everyone is Sarah Wormwell from Standard Life Aberdeen: one of the first organisations in the UK to go to Oracle HCM Cloud four years ago, thus having experienced multiple upgrades. She’ll be discussing how Cloud changes the way you work

Also sharing their experiences are Reading Borough Council, one of the first Financial Cloud users in the UK, and Fujitsu who recently transformed their whole HCM operation across 38 countries, following a nine-month rollout.

Cloud doesn’t have to be everything. We will also have a presentation about deriving value from partial Cloud implementations, for example from DHL, which runs core HCM Cloud together with on-premise applications and An Post, which is getting value from the Cloud where it makes business sense.

Getting Value from your Cloud

For those who are in the Cloud, Apps17 will provide valuable opportunities to network with others with similar experiences and we will also be looking at new technologies that will bring more value to existing Cloud Apps.

For example, you won’t want to miss the sessions on Blockchain and Chatbots, two hot new technologies, and how Oracle is using them in Applications. Oracle’s David Haimes will talk about Blockchain; while Aylin Uysal will share about how Chatbots are enhancing the user experience.

I guarantee there will be a lot to learn at Apps17 to help deliver or develop your applications strategy.  There are also be many sessions that are relevant to everybody; so, come along and explore the different streams! As well as SaaS Cloud, there are strategic business sessions on everything from working with Oracle Support to GDPR.

So, come ready to network, share, listen and learn and have enjoy yourself. And together, we will continue to build a community where everyone moves forward together.
